Research Areas

The focus of Dr. Hansmann’s laboratory is on basic mechanisms, clinically relevant biomarkers and novel therapeutic interventions in four areas:
(1) pathobiology of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) and pulmonary hypertension (PH),
(2) right ventricular dysfunction in PVD and congenital heart disease, including new animal models and imaging modalities for PVD and heart failure,
(3) the role of platelets in the pathophysiology of ductus arteriosus, and
(4) oxygen toxicity and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).
